Greetings cigar lovers. As we approach the great day celebrating America’s independence, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on our freedoms. It seems like lately that our rights as citizens are under attack. Things are obviously very different due to the pandemic, but even before this craziness all started our rights as smokers are slowly eroding. We cannot expect everyone to enjoy this hobby like we do, but we must be careful not to let the anti smoking lobby gain any more ground or we may find ourselves smoking in places the size of old phone booths! Federal, state and local leaders continue to put forth bills that take away smoking rights, but they are specific to each state, town or municipality so I urge you not to take your eyes off the ball here. Check to see what’s on the ballot and if there is any legislation that is being put forth that may erode our rights. If you love a good cigar as much as I do, you’ll do your part to make sure the government does not make decisions for you. It is very possible to enjoy a beautiful, delicious cigar in a respectful way so as not to offend the non smokers even though most of them will CRUSH your habit in a second if they could. So during this week leading up to the day our Freedom was secured I will leave you with this…
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
